STRATEGY

FEDO's Strategy

Coinciding with the political changes in Nepal over the past year, FEDO also adopted four specific strategies to:

  • Make Dalit women aware about the Constituent Assembly and parliamentary elections including:
    • holding a national conference on Dalit women with a total of 6,000 participants from 65 districts of Nepal
    • lobbying to ensure political participation and representation of Dalit women
    • conducting 40 social literacy classes on legal and women's rights, health awareness, and livelihood issues
  • Extension of networking and coordination including:
    • forming alliances to enhance coordination among Dalit and pro-Dalit organizations and sister organizations of political parties
    • holding four media interactions to sensitize media on Dalit women's issues
  • Increasing access and control over local resources including:
    • forming and mobilizing Dalit women in organized groups
    • conducting business literacy classes
  • Developing FEDO's capacity including:
    • amending its constitution to clarify the Board election process and ensure good governance
    • expanding branches in 11 districts for a total of 26 district offices across the count
